Breast Health Revolution

I read a lot of books about breast health and breast cancer. There are many excellent resources and I will continue to add and make comment. However, if I could pick a handful of books that I learned the most from and were excellently laid out and written, here are my picks:

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer: How Hormone Balance Can Help Save Your Life by John R. Lee, M.D.

This book explains the medical system around women’s breast health from the standpoint of a medical doctor who has spent his entire life in it. Dr. Lee was a great educator (he passed away in 2003) and his chapters on hormones are fabulous. Dr. Lee was a tremendous pioneer in the field of women’s hormonal health. This book is excellent!

What Women MUST Know to Protect Their Daughters From Breast Cancer by Dr. Sherrill Sellman, N.D.

Dr. Sellman is an amazing champion of woman’s health. I have highlighted her book more than just about every book I read combined! This book is absolutely necessary for every woman and if you have a daughter, you MUST read this book. It’s a life-saver! That is not an over-statement.

The Secret of Health: Breast Wisdom by Ben Johnson, M.D., D.O., N.MD.

If you’ve watched The Secret, you may remember Dr. Ben as the wonderful gray-haired doctor in the movie. I loved this book because even with all the knowledge, wisdom and experience Dr. Johnson must have in his decades of medical practice, he so beautifully integrates the emotional aspects of breast health into the physical. If you believe that what we think, we manifest, you must read Dr. Ben’s book.

Cancer – Step Outside the Box by Ty Bollinger.

This book is quite simply an eye-opener. You cannot read this book without having many “AHA moments”. Ty lost several of his family members to cancer so as an accountant, he went digging. Probably no better profession to look for the truth than someone accustomed to dealing with facts. Numbers are about as logical as you can get. Ty uses that same unwavering logic as he pulls apart the cancer industry and alternative treatments. I bought this book as an ebook while traveling and went back and bought the actual book because I wanted to have it as a reference in my library.

Should I Be Tested For Cancer: Maybe Not and Here’s Why by H. Gilbert Welch, M.D., M.P.H.

I bought this book and literally dreaded having to read it. Honestly, I thought it would be the perfect cure for insomnia. Well, what a surprise! I loved this book. It’s well-written, fascinating and another eye-opener by an expert in the field. You may very well come to an entirely different viewpoint on the medical tests you agree to have after reading this book. Great insights for women about breast cancer screening, and for men for prostate cancer testing.

Traditional Chinese Medicine: A Woman’s Guide to Healing from Breast Cancer by Nan Lu OMD, LAc and Ellen Schaplowsky

Dr. Nan Lu has written an extraordinary book that brings together the traditional Chinese medicine viewpoint on breast health with the western woman’s approach. I read and then reread much of this book, I enjoyed it so much. Chinese medicine is over 5000 years old and contains incredible wisdom for every woman’s health. Whatever your belief system around medicine, this book holds precious gems you’ll benefit from.
